Will Holland featuring Line Froyset - Things That Happen

Enhanced has been on the rise (which you probably already knew) thanks to singles like Ferry Tayle & Static Blue "L'acrobat," Estiva "I Feel Fine EP" and Temple One "Sahara Nights." Despite only releasing the rare single every now and then, Will Holland has had big success as a producer as well as label owner. "Tears In The Rain" pretty much speaks for itself. Will is back again with another vocal number with Line Froyset entitled "Things That Happen." Already dubbed as Mixmag's 'Tune Of The Month', "Things That Happen" comes with uplifting remixes from Temple One and Mystery Islands.

Original Mix

The original is a smooth, melodic affair focusing on the soothing vocals of Line. The production quality sounds a bit oldschool but the melodies and pads work well. The track gradually builds as vocal bits sound off and on. The full vocals emerge during the tranquil breakdown and before you know it, the chorus kicks in thanks to a snare roll. Highlights include the pads and plucks and of course the nostalgic and uplifting theme. Not an overly exciting track but if you're after some oldschool uplifting trance that isn't trying too hard, this might do it for you.

Temple One Remix

Temple One (aka Joe Garrett) delivers a full-on atmospheric number featuring pounding percussion, an offbeat bassline and haunting pads and vocal effects. The track gradually picks up steam and plows headfirst into a lush breakdown. Temple One churns out a catchy lead which I feel this track needed. The vocals during the break fit in well and the new theme Joe has cooked up really adds a new mysterious dimension to the tune. A short but effective build kicks in the chorus, which is packed with synths and pads alike. Quality stuff from Joe though maybe not as thrilling as his latest single "Sahara Nights."

Mystery Islands Remix

It's been a while since we've heard from Mystery Islands and when I saw his name on the release I became rather intrigued. Driving percussion and a rolling bassline hint the typical Mystery Islands sound and as the song progresses, his old standard formula becomes more and more prevalent. The arrangement and flow of the track is solid and the vocals come in right on time as the track enters the breakdown, which features some nice pads and an approaching saw pluck lead. The original theme emerges and soon enough the track is in chorus mode. As it turns out this mix is a few years old but if you still enjoy Mystery Island's sound, this will be for you.

In Conclusion...

A good release although a bit over-saturated in the reverb department. Temple One's mix stands out the most while the others are a bit dated and sound a bit rough around the edges. 3.5/5 stars!
