Cliff Coenraad - Distorted Reality

It there is one thing trance music is always in danger of its unoriginality. Whilst the framework for a trance track is fairly simple, it's the interpretation and application of this genre that can be detrimental to the life and times of trance music. In layman's terms, if all trance music sounds too similar its listeners would become bored and stray into other genres of electronica and without listeners there can be no producers and no DJ's.

It is in this light that 'Distorted Reality', through its incredibly funky, solid and reliable beat and drums is nothing short of genre busting! We should all be standing up and giving Cliff Coenraad a massive high five! Thank you Cliff Coenraad for injecting some funk into trance music! And what a fantastic combination it is.

'Distorted Reality' starts off by laying down a concrete foundation of solid, chunky beats, slightly distorted of course...as the track title suggests. The percussions are crisp and dynamic, adding to the beats bounce and energy. The verse melody notes are uplifting whilst the melody itself has an fantastically catchy tune to it that you will undoubtedly be humming and whistling long after you've experienced it. The second chorus lead synth melody courses it's way into the high frequencies with a wonderfully fat, warm and resonating analog sound, reminding us that Cliff Coenraad's first love is always with trance music no matter how far his beats and drums may cross genre's. Moving the last verse up a scale is a fantastic end to the track, just another example of Cliff Coenraad's originality and creative expression.

Cliff Coenraad's ability to cross into other electronica genres so vastly and yet still not only maintain a trance framework but produce an excellent and fresh sounding trance track is testament to his amazing creative dynamic as a producer.

'Distorted Reality' is available now in two guises, an original mix and a 'Reshizzled Mix'.
