DJ Jani - Hotel Arena Tonight

DJ Jani is one of Black Hole’s front figures when it comes to uplifting house. Even though he’s not been around as long as others, his precision for selecting the right tracks is simply amazing. In 2001 Jani released the first chapter in his own mixcompilation series, “DJ Jani Experience”, that saw a live-recorded mix from his appearance at Black Hole’s Wild Life party in Amsterdam. The solid club-atmosphere and live-preformed vocals made the compilation an essential record for every uplifting house fanatic’s collection.

Now, just 18 months later, Jani is back with “Hotel Arena Tonight” to deliver another tight selection of uplifting house. Starting out with Shakedown’s ‘At Night’ in a Kid Crčme Cub mix, off for Players Inc. ‘Feelin’ Alright’ right into Grant Nelson’s ‘Switch’ and ‘ Sunshine Daze’ by Hott 22 presents summer in the city give the first part of the CD a touch of bliss, something that exemplify the entire compilation.

Even though Jani has crammed 16 tunes into the 77-minutes long mix you still get the essence from each tune, something that can be hard to deliver with trance compilations. With 8 tracks in your back and still 8 to go you’ve already been fed with glorious tunes and the feed keep up the swift pace throughout the rest of the CD where vocals see a nice mix together with guitars, trumpets and other instruments. No matter if you’re just into the 3rd track or at the end of the compilation you’re guaranteed an even mix personally signed by Jani.


If you’ve found yourself to be the occasional house-fan and whish to get a further introduction to the world of uplifting house Jani has compiled a 16-step aural handbook on what to expect from this very breezy genre. Take your time to listen, interpret and see if house isn’t even better than you’ve already experienced it to be – it’s just a matter of getting in the right mood and get a classy mix including the right tunes.
