The Scarab vs. Inzite - Unity of Earth 2002

What in late autumn 2000 was produced as a theme for the upcoming website Trance.nu now, in 2002, finally see a full release. Back then it went under Jezper Söderlund’s “Transic” guise, with not less than two follow-ups under the “Crimpton” act, but the final release sees his latest name; “The Scarab”. Together with his Swedish friend Inzite he’s done some serious polishing-off of the first version and the out-come is obviously good enough for a 12”-release on the upcoming Finish EMT Design label. Altogether they present ‘Unity of Earth 2002 – The Trance.nu Theme’

A1. Unity of Earth 2002 (Original)
The catchy sound of Jezper Söderlund is all over this track, from the very first second. A flute-like sound, breaks, a typical Airbase/The Scarab base, the strings, it all point towards the upcoming Swede. After an almost silent break the new invention for this 2002 remake of the classic Trance.nu-anthem enters; the massive twirl, just as taken from an Yahel-production and seen an Airbase-twist. As the psy-inspired twirl really come in during a break you see it. Together they bring forth something that doesn’t come off as easily, something you’ll be humming all day. It’s catchy, it’s good, it’s The Scarab and Inzite!

A2. Unity of Earth 2002 (Tb0 & Vega Remix)
The most innovative remix of the three featured on the release. Tb0 & Vega have ditched the original sounds and gone with their very own build-up, a trancier and more spot-on one, almost halfway to Push’s style, just a bit deeper and catchier. You can clearly hear the repeating lead of the original production come up between the pitched-up trancy waves of Tb0 & Vega. And it doesn’t take too long before it emerges into what it is in the Original but with the fine touch of the remix-duo. And not only did they ditch the original build-up and sounds, they thought their remix would be better off without the what will soon be called “Unity of Earth twirl”, so they left it out and went with their own vibrating interpretation. Two thumbs up!

B1. Unity of Earth 2002 (CosmicMan’s Meesah Remix)
CosmicMan known for his released ‘I love you’ and over-due ‘Krystal’ that made way on the Internet showcase more of his soft chords with this remix. In a remix which really is the original where Matti from Cosmicman has stuffed in his spongy melodic vibes instead of the halfway trancy and commersial sounds of the original he make impression. With breaks filled with sounds that let your thoughts wonder off to names like BT and Sasha and a completely remade twirl that heads off for dreamy destinations with echoes of the past Matti knows what he’s up to. He’s just pealed of the last edgy feelings and picked out the cushion filled with melodic and had it cover the whole production. Not that innovative, but good.

B2. Unity of Earth 2002 (Shane 54 Remix)
Take the original and add a more banging feeling. Then add spaced-out sounds, chop the melodic build-up into thousands of tiles, fade-down some of the main elements and then you call it a ‘Shane 54 remix’. It’s really hard to put your finger on what Shane really has changed in his remix. All you can tell is that he’s improved the sound of the original but you can’t name more than a few things he has remade. Perhaps it really should have been called ‘Shane 54’s Stealth Remix’, would make much sense.

Trance.nu’s very own anthem, even the label tells the story when you look at the Trance.nu logo pressed on it. One original production and three remixes that should do the trick, and probably will if just some DJ pick up one of the quite few copies narrowed down to Finland and promotional DJ send-outs. This is a must-have for trance.nu addicts, and a must-try for the rest.
