Having made his UK debut not so long ago, The Gallery takes great pride in welcoming Richard Durand back to their stage to launch the ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ South Africa compilation - with an extended set. Support comes from top trance duo Super 8 & Tab and hotly tipped new boy on the block, Alex O Rion. Resident ‘The Viceroy’ brings an end to the festivities.

There is no doubt the legendary status that ‘In Search of Sunrise’ has amongst trance fans, famous for their hypnotic melodies and euphoric highs. Previously under Tiesto’s stewardship at Black Hole Recordings, a new mentor was required for the series. After careful deliberation the perfect candidate was chosen: Richard Durand! Rising forty-two places since the 2008 DJ Mag poll, cements Mr Durand firmly within the world’s top fifty. When you examine his productions and performances, it is easy to see why.

Richard first came to prominence with his 2005 single ‘Make Me Scream,’ the tech-trance electro bomb that smashed dancefloors to pieces. Following this up with remixes of ‘Lethal Industry,’ ‘Toca’s Miracle,’ ‘Madagascar’ and more recently ‘In And Out Of Love,’ have earnt him an array of plaudits. Add to this a series of coveted Radio 1 Essential Mixes - and singles such as ‘Always The Sun’ and ‘N.Y.C,’ you have a fully bona fide star! Clubbers worldwide now eagerly await how Richard will assert his sound on ‘ISOS 8.’ From the outset, a choice of South Africa as theme country – is not an obvious one. However, this only goes to demonstrate his flair, creativity and emphasis on how dance music has evolved over past years. Expect Richard’s performance to combine the traditional warm, sweeping synths of ‘ISOS’ with dark, driving beats. After the forthcoming ‘In Search of Sunrise’ launch at the Gallery, the ‘Rainbow Nation’ will be famous for more than the football!

Super 8 & Tab have exploded onto the scene in recent years, and that's putting it mildly. The Finnish duo (Miika Eloranta and Janne Mansnerus) have been making tunes on Anjunabeats since its birth. Having orchestrated ‘First Aid,’ ‘Get Off,’ ‘Helsinki Scorchin,’ ‘Elektra’ and ‘Irufushi’ amongst others, they are part of an ongoing legacy amongst trance fans – a combination of hair raising vocals with that distinct ‘Super 8 & Tab’ sound. It is instantly recognisable and hence, their DJ sets are anticipated with so much excitement.

Making a debut in the ‘Top 100’ last year at eighty-two, is just the tip of the iceberg. Their ‘Anjunabeats Worldwide’ radio show is fast forming a cult following, on a par with Above & Beyond’s ‘Trance Around The World’– which coincidentally featured a storming ‘Super 8 & Tab’ guest mix last month. The latest Anjuna compilation (with Mat Zo) is selling record breaking copies, and a new artist album is imminent. Having the right balance of classic tunes, big room productions and future anthems, who can deny their Gallery performance will be an epic affair!

Alex O Rion was tipped by fellow countryman Durand to be 2009’s big breakthrough. When listening to his productions such as ‘Release the Beast’ and ‘Fragile Sounds,’ it is clear to see! A similar sound, but adding his own tumultuous riffs and intense breakdowns. It is with great pleasure The Gallery welcomes Alex to grace the hallowed Ministry CDJ’s.

His story began in 2007, after joining forces with Dutch label ‘Terminal-4.’ An international release from Royal Flush Records gave his sound exposure to the masses. However 2009 was the big break, being signed to Black Hole Recordings – and the rest they say, is history! Tunes such as ‘Milford Sounds’ and ‘Like A Box Of Fluffy Ducks’ won support from the likes of Tiesto, Armin, and Paul Van Dyk. The latest track ‘Jellyfish’ features on ‘ISOS 8’ and is currently number fifteen in the Beatport trance chart. With a re-edit just complete of the seminal ‘Music Is The Answer’ by Danny Tenaglia, and more prolific remixes in the pipeline, Alex O Rion is a fast rising star! Demonstrating his versatility by DJ’ing under the ‘Heavenly’ series, this offers a softer, more progressive take on the scene. His set is sure to be a musical treat!

Baroque Records host the ‘103,’ with a stellar lineup of DJ’s and producers - from their mighty back catalogue. Leading lights in the world of ‘prog’ and house, the action comes from Paul Thomas, Sonny Wharton, Gavyn Mytchel and Ricky Bruni.

Paul is considered one of the most talented DJ’s around, plying his trade since 1998. He became resident of Godskitchen’s ‘Air’ venue in 2003, with a string of mind blowing sets. This led to becoming an official resident of the club. Paul’s underground sound fits well in the intimate space of the ‘103,’ perfect to showcase his releases on ‘Toolroom’ and ‘Size,’ as well as remixes for ‘Deadmau5,’ Josh Wink and D Ramirez amongst others. 2010 is an exciting year, with a tour of South America, Croatia and a collaboration with Gallery favourite Jerome Isma-Ae. Watch this space!

Sonny is the perfect artist to accompany Paul on the bill. Good friends as well as co-producers, together they reworked Da Hool’s ‘Meet Her At The Love Parade’ into an underground epic. But Wharton is an artist in his own right, boss of label ‘Whartone’ – on which a new solo EP is soon due for release. Expect Sonny to whip the Gallery faithful into a frenzy, with his notorious multiple deck wizardry and killer productions.

If you haven’t heard of Ricky Bruni, then listen up! Signed to Purple Edge Records, his new singles ‘Phobias’ and ‘The Sin’ have just been released. Bruni’s sound cannot be pigeon holed, – a cross between tech house and progressive. His last Gallery outing left the crowd wanting more, with one of the best warm-up sets ever seen at Ministry! Seamless mixing and an inspired tune selection meant we just had to ask him back.

Finally, Gallery head honcho Gavyn Mytchel performs an exclusive set, away from his normal main room abode. Excellence in the art of sound!
