A well known artist once said: "Making and playing music is like a reflex,I just can't control it". And a reflex it is for one of Holland's former talents who is taking the world of dancemusic by storm. Many DJs have made it to the top and so did numerous producers. But there are only so many people who are skilled enough to let both DJ-ing and producing go hand in hand to create a perfect synergy. One of those artists who posesses everything a DJ/ producer needs, is Artento Divini.
At the age of 19 the young and enthousiastic Ard Schilderink discovered the world of house music after being a successful cyclist and seeing many parts of Europe competing in cyclingcompetitions. His love for four measured beats started to grow on him and resulted in buying his very own pair of turntables. Just like every DJ he started practicing the art of mixing, which lead to competing in several mixingcontests and, even more important, conquering these gauntlets. In 2002 Artento headlined the Brazilian festival Eco System and ended up touring this country for over three months and playing small hotspots in a.o. Manaus and other cities bordering the Amazone river.
Trying out different styles of music, slowly his sound developped into the style Divini plays nowadays. In 2006 Artento and his former partner in crime Melvin Warning added a new chapter to his starshooting career by producing the massive clubhit 'Divini & Warning - 4LB'. TiŰsto played it at Sensation White during his thirty-minutes-surprise-guest-performance, Armin van Buuren started off his set at Dance Valley 2006 playing '4LB' and Sander van Doorn even used this'Radio 538 Dance Smash Hit' on his Dance Valley mix compilation, so the impact of this first release was extremely big. Their second single 'Chaib' was dedicated to a special friend who sadly past away afterbeing involved in a diving accident at the island of Curašao. Artento Divini: "He lives on in our hearts, also through this record".
At some point Divini and Warning both decided to pick up their solo careers again and seperated ways. Soon Artento's first solorelease had reached the cd-wallets of many renowned DJs. 'Pulse' was released on 2Play Records and even Eddie Halliwell played this track on his BBC 1 radioshow. But the biggest solo-hit till now was yet to come. 'Reflex' has really established Artento Divini's name within the scene; Sander van Doorn's DOORN Records picked up this future classic release and made it get stuck at the number two spot of the Beatport-charts for several weeks. Even Australia and New-Zealand were Reflexed, Central Station signed this belter exclusively for named territory. Some comments on this release were:
Ferry Corsten: "Played it in my radioshow!" Sander van Doorn: "This is massive, creates mayhem on the dancefloors." Paul Oakenfold: "Stormer, very nice tune!"
Dutch superstar DJ Jochen Miller and Artento Divini teamed up in the studio for the Emporium anthem 2008, which was signed by Dedicated Records. Later on they released 'One Way' (Emporium Anthem), 'Many Years', 'No Backup' and their bootlegs of 'David Guetta - Love Is Gone' and 'One Republic - Apologize' were very well received on the dancefloor and of course brand new material was due soon. Also Artento's new solorelease will be out soon: High Contrast will present 'Who's Next' in early 2010.
Artento's remixes have also become very popular, his rebuild of 'Jochen Miller - Lost Connection'' was played by Marco V who started off his set with this one at Sensation White 2008. The Divini remix 'Fausto - Lupara' and the original mix have been released by Marco V's In Charge label and the near future will show that Divini has got some more remixtricks up his sleeve. Also his bootlegs have become enormously popular, Depeche Mode's 'Personal Jesus' and 'Hide U' by Kosheen were given the Artento treatment and both go down a storm on the dancefloor. In 2009 his remix of the classic 'Kay D & Marc Tall - Hoipolloi' also struck the scene and a success it was.
High Contrast has also picked up the skills of Divini and decided to sign him for a range of new releases. After the release of 'Deep Down' on this legendary label, also 'Biding My Time' became a big hit and was played by every trendsetting DJ. High Contrast was given the honor to host an own stage during Trance Energy, probably the biggest Trance-event in the world. At this stage, Artento got to finish the night off in style which opened doors to many other festivals and events. During the festivalseason of 2009 Divini played at a.o. Dance Valley, DefQon1, Q-Base and Reloaded Festival. His sound had also reached countries such as Poland, in which his star is rising day by day. To make sure that his fans abroad can keep up with him, Artento started hosting an hour's radioshow which is broadcast and podcast every two weeks, called Front Of My Bag. Next to that, he became the sidekick of DJ Fausto in his radioshow Fausto's Crossover on Q-Dance Radio.
In 2009 PT Events and Artento Divini teamed up for a very special event. In one of Holland's most beautiful clubs, Club Panama in Amsterdam, they hosted Divini's Dance Against Cancer. With the event they raised over 12,000 euros for the National Cancer Foundation, an achievement everyone who co÷perated was extremely proud of. In 2010 there will be another edition to help the fight against cancer, because every euro can make a difference.
The sound of Artento Divini can be described as a mixture of minimal rhythms, trancy influences and rough driving sounds. Divini: "My creative brain seems unstoppable, it just goes on and on and on. Like someone once said: 'It's like a reflex, I just can't stop it'. So maybe I've come down with the same desease as that guy, who knows..."
