Starecase

It's been in the pipeline for a while now, but Trance.nu finally talk to one of the hottest bands of recent. The impeccable sounds of Starecase come courtesy of Al Watson and Paul Crossman. Signed to Hope Recordings, they are the cream of the crop when it comes to innovative ideas, and with their debut album on the horizon, it all looks very promising for Starecase.

THE DEBUT ALBUM - FIRST FLOOR - IS DUE FOR RELEASE SHORTLY AND INCLUDES THE RELEASE - BITTER LITTLE PILL. WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THAT SINGLE, AND HOW DID THE COLLABORATION WITH VOCALIST SEAN COOK COME ABOUT?

When we started the album we both sat down and started to get our favourite bands out again just to refresh our ears. We wanted a slightly more 'indified' sound to the track. Bristol is quite a small place, and we'd see Sean out drinking quite regularily. So we asked him in the pub whether he wanted to sing on a track and he said yes!

SO WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE ALBUM?

A bit of the old and a bit of the new!!!

AND WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL FAVOURITES FROM - FIRST FLOOR?

‘See’, the next single after Faith.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE SINGLE - FAITH?

A song with a vocal to die for!!

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AND AMBITIONS FOR 2002?

To keep writing and developing. We've just finished a mix of DJ Remy - In Your Face for Additive and there are a couple more in the pipeline.

AND FINALLY, WHICH DJS AND PRODUCERS DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AT THE MOMENT?

Si Begg, Martin Hannett, Miguel Migs, DJ Quest & Ben Copeland, Dr Dre, Adam F and Timo Maas.

FIRST FLOOR ALBUM DUE OUT 24 JUNE 2002 - CD AND TRIPLE VINYL PACKAGE.
