Are tracks produced in todays scene becoming more and more sophisticated due to producers "tricks" making it harder for new producers to break through???

Do you think trance will ever return to the golden era where the melody was more important than the production ???

Discuss...........

Not on the melodic area tho, those standards seem to be lowered to the absolute minimum.

I doubt it's harder for new producers to break through because of "tricks". Technically EDM has a higher standard today than it had 10 years ago, but it's also a lot easier to make EDM today than it was 10 years ago. Everyone has a computer, everyone has bitTorrent, and there are so many tutorials online. So it doesn't really matter imo. I don't really think that melodies today are worse either, only the worst melodies of today are worse than the worst melodies years ago, simply because everyone can release a track these days. There are still a lot of good melodies these days, but because there are so many shitty tracks that get a release anyway it's just hard to find them. And that might also be the reason that it's harder to break through (if it really is harder, idk)

Yeah what? You wanna tell him that you like this track? And if he doesn't like it what are you going to say? Would you try to "change" his taste in melodies?

Just to underline how stupid is to think there is an "objective" rule for what is a good melody.

Also, let me say this track is nothing special: Ie there is nothing that makes it different from others 10000 out there. Another uplifting loud track.

You're missing my point happy There are indeed still good tunes, the majority however is pathetic on the melodic side of things (like "hmm lets repeat the same note a few times and call it a melody") happy. (and yes, i like robot religion)

i would assume that by "those standards seem to be lowered to the absolute minimum" he meant he was looking for something reminiscent to viola and carte blanche and was getting deadmouse

yes, melodies are subjectively valid, and if you don't like what's going around now then don't listen to trance because it is what it is.

shit..

I wish you good look. thumbsup

Whatever you do, do it firstable for yourself. Everyone has something to say/to express through the music, and is something unique because every person is unique. Trying to be as someone else is the wrongest thing ever. The copy is always worst than the original.

Keep on working and post some of your stuff around.
