I'm just new here and I made a youtube video criticising plucked melodies, I would like to share...

So here we go - 10 minutes of "same" melodies grin :

Youtube link

I will appreciate any comments happy
btw. pay attention to the fact, that more than half of the tracks come from Anjunabeats and Enhanced...

i thin its an accident
i think there is a limit to how much different you can produce a track
there are so many tracks out there and you may never know that many do sound the same

Songs will always have ones that sound the same as each other, and repeated riffs all the way through, it's the same for every single genre out there.

Perfect example of how little originality exists in current mainstream trance.

Just depends what you like don't it, to me all rap and indie music sound the same as every other song.

cca 30 tracks, which sound almost like remixes of one another (but are not, they are made by different authors), and it's still only accident for you? lol
but OK, your opinion...

I get the sense you're not here for a discussion, more here just to bash trance, either that or you're just an idiot.

Londoner, did you even listen to that video? Don't you find that alarming? Where's the originality? Where's the self-expression? Where's the art? etc.

I listened to enough to understand what it's about yes, I don't find it worrying no. The way I look at it is this, every genre has the same problem, there's only so many combinations possible, when tracks are so similer, or nearly identical like in that video, I hope that people simply won't buy them and it will force producers to become more 'original'

Hope that makes sense lol.

K1aptcha, I was thinking to make the exact same video. You took it first : )

Btw, I wonder who was the very first to create that riff? I always thought that Nickey was...but probably I am wrong.

you don't need a video to make the same point. Just listen to most trance radio shows today. Everything track sounds the same/ has been done before.

and I agree with Idonotlikebroccoli. I find it quite alarming that there is a lack of originality lately.

yeah, I (and community on trance.cz) also call it Slider-like melodies (probably because Slider seems to be the most succesful tune from them), but the first riff (but not exact) is probably from Luminary - Amsterdam (Smith & Pledger Remix) or with little changes then from Alan M - Famicom (Temple 1 Remix) or possibly that ATB - Nightwatch, which was released in cca the same time as Famicom... I can also mention Nitrous Oxide - North Pole, which is not in the video, because the notes are kinda switched there, but the idea is similar (and it was ripped then by Above & Beyond in Anjunabeach grin )
