Miracles Of Life-PassiePassion Feat B+

Vocal Club Trance - Pre Album Version -

Not sure where i should put it yet
On an upcoming album with various vocal songs that i made with friends
Or put this one on a normal album with other instrumental songs.

Got various more songs with B+ but those are not trance
B+ likes club more cos it has more swing and she is more into the feel of club
Trance is more like singing with long tones instead of fast jazzy swing singing
So we tried her voice on this song as an experiment
We both like the result
But it's not sounding like the current vocal trance that we hear on the radio
The kid of 14 likes it even wants to sing it herself [And is Marlyn manson fan hihi] Thus some of the new generation like it as well

But i named it as CLUB TRANCE.cos it's not vocal trance like Armin or Tiesto productions.

So what do you think about the song ?
Can this one go on an album with instrumentals ,or ,,
Is it too commercial sounding to fit with normal-underground instrumental trance ?

change the reverb on the vocals, or maybe just remove the reverb.

Instead of making it sound 'dreamy' (which I guess the goal was), it sounds like it was recorded in a big (empty) hall.

Cool, sounds like one of those classic vocal club trance tracks.

Might be the FX that is applied to the vocals, but to me the vocals and the rest
of the track seems a bit off sync?

Try using delay on the vocals instead of reverb. If you use reverb, it should only be a tiny bit of reverb.

Otherwise its good. A bit like Alice DJ cheers

Thanks for the tips

Yeah i need to slim the vocal down a bit
Been working on another track with B+ in it and i fear i did the same thing there

It's not only the reverb your hearing
But i layered up to about 5 times the same vocal
If i record vocals then i always ask the singers to record the same part at least 5 times
Then i can cut the best words out of the recordings

What i did now is just layer all 5 recordings
There are some tyming differences in the different recordings
That makes the vocal sound extra full which is nice especially with R&B ,Rap productions
Their voices are always 4x doubled to create that full sound

But off course then they got 50 times the same thing
So got 5 perfectly fitting recordings

This is not R&B nor Rap so i think your right
I'll take some voice layers away and do some tests with only 1 track vocals
And 1 with 2 tracks vocals panning both 15 to one side to create stereo feel

I'll do that tomorrow
Time to go to bed now been at it all night long 9 in the morning here hihi

After Love Life - PassiePassion Feat B+
Not house more Vocal Chill R&B ish vocals @ 126 bpm [Not 2step] TripHop I think ?
For those who are interested to hear another one from B+ and me

Ok i took some layers of vocals away
There were really only 2 layers in this song
Each panned to one side for 15

On these versions i only use 1 track-layer of vocals
And i made a version without eq and compression on the vocals
Plus a pure raw version with even the eq and compression from the main bypassed
It takes a lot of volume away from the vocal

So is the vocal still powerful enough ?
In the studio singers always complained that their voice was too well mixed in the song.
Singers want to stand out so i'll ask B+ what she thinks about it as well
Call her tomorrow to hear her opinion too wink

Miracles Of Life-P-B+ [1 Vox]
- No layered vocals 1 vocal track only
Deleted the video

Miracles Of Life-P-B+ [1+NoComEQ on Vox]
- No EQ or Compression on the Vocals
Deleted the video

Miracles Of Life-P-B+ [1b+NoComEqMain]
- No eq or compression on vocals
And no eq or compression on main out eighter
So raw mix
Deleted the video

I dont think the layering of the vocals is the problem. Its the reverb. It sounds like she is singing in a giant hall.

I would use much less reverb and tweak some delays.
This is just my opinion. If the big hall reverb is the thing you are aiming at, then i guess its good.

Cheers cheers

If you want to i would really like to have a go at mixing the vocals.

I will send it back to you when i am finished and if you do not like it, you can just throw it in the trash can happy

Can i try?

@ Znack

I'll have to ask B+ if she thinks thats ok
But i fear there is not much else you can do

As you hear in the last version without any compression
The reverb is recorded on the vocals
Thats why i took compression and eq away in some of the mixes

It needs the eq for the brightness
And compression to give all the words the right volume
But ones you put compression or eq on it then the reverb comes up as well
To take the verb away i need to cut every single word out
And fade the end of each sample to avoid clicks

There is no reverb on my logic on the vocals
There was none at the first version eighter
2 layers and compression and EQ
Took 1 layer away and recorded em without com eq to show its in the recordings

I'll ask B+ if she can sing it in again one day
But she is more into hiphop and rapping
Trance isn't really her kinda thing
Thats why i tried to use the made recordings
But i'll ask her if you can give it a try with her audio
Pointed her to this forum an hour ago and told her were discussing the song here
So who knows she might create a login athough trance ain't her interest like it is ours wink

Recording incl FX
I made this mistake with more audio vocal recordings
Even made a tutor to help others to avoid the same error

Okay i see. I thought you added the reverb yourself.

If the dry version of the vocal already has the reverb, then i guess there is not much you can do about it. Unless of course if she records it again without the reverb.

Is it just me, or is she a bit flat, off pitch? I'd melodyne the hell out of the vocal.

Otherwise, you might consider giving her a huge big ass motherf****ng reverb ( lol ), maybe it'll put the vocal in the "dreamy" feeling.

I would say Melodyne is appropriate in certain places happy

I spoke with B+
And she does not agree with the critics
She does not think that it sounds to reverbed

And lol she certainly does not agree that it needs melodyne
She said if it was off key then i would not ok the song
So i wont edit [cut each word] to get it more dry
The singer likes it and thats all i care about really on this one.

Its always good to try and improve a product so all like it
And i even agree with some points myself
Like in the break part i also hear some close to off key vocals
But for me thats not bad enough to fix

This one is thats why i never continued this one
But i still kept it cos even while its terribly off key
There is a feeling coming from it that i like
That emotion you can't create with on key i guess
It's me singing by the way , so i'm not making fun of another person.
Just know this is off key yet i still like it in some way [Not Dance]
1;12 is worst i think , but i even like most of the rest
So i probably don't hear detailed enough to analise vocals to key
Mixing them and re arranging no problem
But my ears seem to like a lil off key so i don't find it disturbing that much
Emotion and creativity are at 1 in my heart i guess hihi

Made this one when i got love sick of a girl i been with
So recorded the feeling and some words
But got over it before i was even able to finish the song lol

Youtube link

back to the Miracles song >
Lol i even put Autotune on it
But i know too lil about how to use autotune to use it
Made a simple cher effect preset to use that sometimes
But for the rest i'm a total autotune noob
Hardly ever work with vocals and when i do then i like the result.
I'm not that critic about it cos i know too lil about it
Thats why i posted the song to hear from those who know a lil more about it
To see if i could learn something new.

Recording rev on it as a no go i learned already
And i agree that it might sound a lil verb-py
But it was all just a try out
We only recorded the vocals ones
So we never re recorded to fix critic points like we should
Now this style of dance died for most Europeans
So its too outdated to do the effort of re recording it

Personally my goal was to get vocals more like as the rush comes
Or another commercial trance way of singing
To me it sounds too classical in the way its sung
An opera feel comes from it imo not dance vocal feel from nowadays
Who knows i might do a new trance track with her one day
But imo her way of singing suits groovy music more as that has more swing
Thus timing points to place the words at
Trance was not her genre and she tried to fit it by singing opera like
Cos thats what trance sounds like to her
And she does not like trance so never listens to it

But THANKS a lot for your idea's and offered help
I'll lookup some files on my disc
Some years ago i made some song ideas as COOP tracks
All wav loops of the music so others can load it in and add their creativity
Might be an idea to up those here to see if we can do some coop projects here
Best would be to use the same Sequencer
But that wont be easy in my case cos i'm a die hard Logic PC user
And most Logic pc users switched to another sequencer since mac bought Logic
I love the sequencer as it has all i need
So never changed to get the most up to date sequencer
But every sequencer can work with loops
So coops shouldn't be a problem and might even be fun and or educating wink

I made a follow up on this song as well
We never got to recording new vocals on it so its instrumental
But has the same feel as this one cos it was supposed to be a follow up
I'll mix it in some minutes and will drop it on my new album topic as track 58
Maybe later on but i think tomorrow
I'm still adjusting to my new headphones
Got to re check lot of times now wink

For those who still like this classic house sound , like me wink
