I'm pondering if I should change the production a little or not.

By the way, I think people mainly produce 'cookie cutter' because they simply like it.

But what think you of my hateful, grim and frostbitten ambient black metal?

Too much reverb and too much shingring metal. Imo it needs more accesible elements such as melodies, catchiness and a hook. Not bad, even though your songs mainly sound the same from what I've heard.

It is actually very melodic in its own way, all black metal is melodic, the melodies just don't romaticize things like Ferry Corsten but barrend landscapes, winter, hatred, the void, and stuff like that.

Seems very metallic with out much melody or thickness. Not sure if that is what you were looking for or not.

Metallic I was aiming for yes, cold, liveless metal, there is melody in it, it's just very low in the mix.

Original buildup, but the drum samples aren't that good. Vengeance Essential Club Sounds for good samples. Melody was a bit on the long run, worked in the beginning, but it got old pretty quick. Try to add more variation to it.

Matt:

Just listening to your track now mate, you used some really nice sounds in here. The mix is very nice also.

I think you could be onto something here. The breakdown is the best bit by far IMO. I love the choir sounding chords you use int here as well as the low tones, I think you should play about with them more, you could get so much more out of them.

It's just that when I heard them I was expecting something beautiful to be brought into the mix, but I was slightly disappointed. It's not that what you did was bad I was very impressed, I just think you should have a longer transition from the breakdown to the climax of the track. With maybe a piano accompanying soem strings or something, make it emotional!!

Great track so far mate!

The buildup was nice, perhaps just another element to help it out? I missed something in/after the break. Maybe a new melody, that builds a bit on what you introduced in the beginning of the track?
