a free sidechain comp i'm using in my productions you can get at:
http://www.ismusic.ne.jp/slim_slow_slider/vst/index.html

the key goes through channel 3/4

in cubase you should make a group quadro track. and use the surround panner. now you can get the bass to the channel 1/2 of the sidechain and the kick to 3/4.

you can write me a pm if you'll have troubles.

enjoy

Well, it’s the truth!

Sidechain compressing is actually what compressors are meant to do. It adds room for other instruments. This technique can get a cheesy mix to sound dynamic and rhythmic! I’ve done it for years.

I use Logic Audio Platinum, and have this sidechain option inbuilt in Logic.

Here's how you do it THE RIGHT way in reason

---> Reason File <---

The key is to use a scream4 connected to the kick, and then connect the scream4 (auto cv) to a Spider CV. And then connect the spider cv to the bassline modulation input. (normally amp level) Then adjust the modulation input knob...

If you want to sidechain the strings too, just add another scream4 to the kick. You then have to connect a splitter to the kick to get two output lines... Blah, just download the reason-file and see what I did there wink
