Just finished some Mellow songs from back in time
So did the complete opposite on this song
And made a Hardcore song again for a change

180 bpm Old Skool HARDCORE
http://soundcloud.com/passiepassion/ode-to-multigroove-bascall

What do you think ?
Do the combined kicks still have enough bottom base power ?

The song sounds a bit mid base to me
If i turn the knob on my mixer ,like i always do to test the mix
Then i don't hear that much change on the sound while turning the knob on lowest
Mid and high knobs respond as normal

Already saw the kick as a straight line on the vu meter
So the meter wasn't moving a lot [punch]
I tried to suck the end down with the compressor
But couldn't get it to pump more cos the impact point of the kick has no body [sample]
Thus i layered some kicks on top of the basic kick
Gave more bottom power
But is it enough for an aggressive hardcore song like this ?

no. low end very weak and not clean

it is because phasing conflicts or overcompressed low end or bad eq

fast attack and release change dramatically harmonics and shape of the wave of sinewave at ~40hz

oscilloscope will prove it

and remember low end it is BASS

Thanks ,yeah bass lol
Will probably keep happening for a while English is not my natural language
And i never cared much about grama

Yeah i thought so too

I didn't put compression on it cos i didn't like the result
And haven't done any eq on the kicks
All kicks are playing from the same sample bank and VSTi channel

So i'll load up the sampler at various tracks with the kick set or put em on audio
And give eq a try on all of them to try and fit em better together
Now i only matched em by velocity
And picked kicks that have most mid power
Gives the sound that i want to hear ,but misses the punch to feel the bass too
Get back on it when i return home wink
