main thought from me is that the track does not have enough groove - you have the offbeat bassline but try adding a higher bassline that adds plenty of groove to the track.

remember that dance music is all about having a great groove that will get people dancing, so you need to improve that groove my friend!

no not another offbeat bass

i mean add another bass higher in frequency - not another offbeat bass but something like a bass that has notes on every 1/16th division, spread over 2 octaves, and then play around with the decay of the bass on the amp envelope and also the filter envelope, to make it work with the kick to get your groove.

this is what i think the track lacks the most - if you add that 2nd bass i think it will greatly improve the track.

No real complaints this far other than everything but the treble is too quiet. Always a big pain, I know, but better to know now than never that you're not mixing in enough treble. It's not much anyway, but everything but the kick and bass could definitely come up.

i dont really miss the treble but that might be me, my biggest complaint would be that the break is far too long imo and i agree that it lacks some groove. apart from that i do like it, especially the mood happy

I was thinking that too, only I try to constrict my comments to engineering only since that's what I'm best at, and I would definitely boost this in the upper frequencies and cut it in the bass frequencies if I were to master it.

Thanks guys, very helpfull comments! happy

Yeah I know that break haha it is more like 3 breakdowns I was working on, combined in an ''call it an extended breakdown''

Good point I should cut and paste here a bit!

Good tip on the EQing!, ill try to bring it up on the highs.

Cheers keep um coming! thumbsup

beautiful breakdown.

ask yourself what you want to convince your audience. I assume you want them to dance, right? well, this sounds like it's bed time... puh you need some fist pumpin' action in there. side chain compression will make it pump a little more.... also those stabs in your breakdown are SO 2007, I suggest you tweak those.

Originality, work on that. I hate to bring it to you, but this sounds like every other trance tune out there...

A for effort.

Snares are equally as important as the Bass Drum. sooo, the snare needs to be beefed up to complement the Bass Drum... People do this by layering snares with slightly different ticks/levels/eq's.

hope that helps! clown

Sorry.... this is way too lackluster to even reach that sub-mediocre bar..

That, and it's just not... idk, interesting.. keep practicing..

This is not a track to dance, but I liked. Very nice atmosphere, and melody.
Some synths reminds me of Markus Schulz & Elevation's "Clear Blue".
You just should fill your drums' parts and reduce the BPM a bit. Then, find a deep kick, and you'll have a perfect melodic trance tune.

I don't remember the old version but starting with this one now...

Your kick is very high in "slam" around 200 Hz. Cut here to make the kick deeper and allow room for the real bass around 60 Hz. 65 Hz is actually the bass note, so boosting here could interfere with that, but boost around 60 Hz to fatten the kick up. Doing so will probably make the attack cut through more, so apply another cut around 4 kHz. Sweep around and find these frequencies yourself rather than just taking my word for it.

Hat is extremely low in volume.

Clap sounds very weak and also too low in volume.

Try and EQ the second hat to not impede so much on the first. Using a spectrum analyser will help at first, then use your ears.

Pad could be high-passed higher or its lower mids reduced.

Same deal with equalising your mid instruments to not impede on one another.

Some nice pads at 1:58 but I can barely hear them!

Lastly, allow your kick to peak no higher than -8.0 or -8.5 dB when soloed so lower the master volume enough to make that happen. And of course see my signature for the rest.
