Of course you could never say sorry, but good luck keeping friends with that attitude.

I don't need friends who agree on and repeat every move I make. My shadow does it better.

If you indeed feel sorry, why say/do/make it?

Typical situation:

a lecture-long letter or message with some good reasoning and other respectable stuff. And then *BANG!* finished with something like "I'm awfully sorry to/for... 1) talking about this... 2) mentioning this and this 3) for wasting your time...". You haven't yet done anything wrong! You only revealed your personality by one bit. With your speech and views you showed who you are. Why are you sorry?!

Being/feeling sorry for your own vision on things, for your own opinion or anything else that belongs to you literally says that you distance from it -> decline it -> don't respect it and simply don't respect yourself.

So, for goodness sake, don't be!!

I'm sorry for creating this thread, I'm very afraid I disturbed you.

P.S. Of course I'm not. I did all of it on my own initiative.
Seems a simple deal, it's called net values.

1: They gain some value X (call it happiness) for bothering you (getting if off their chest)
2: They lose some value Y for bothering you.

So, if X > Y, they proceed to do so.

In actuality, there is also a value Z they gain for just telling you that they're sorry, that seems to help, so the actual boolean type is:

X > (Y - Z)

However, this is an interesting self fulfilling prophecy, namely you don't notice when they typed the entire mail, and still felt too sorry to actually press 'submit', in this case X < (Y - Z), so they don't press submit.

worse is when people are so insecure that they apologise for everything they do or say... not out of arrogance but because they have a lack of self-confidence.

It's not worse, it's what this thread is about.

Out of the comments above I thought you were talking about people that say sorry out of arrogance...
But in that case, I totally agree happy
