I think while in theory such a thing is possible, there are way too many obstacles which could not have been overcome during this time period, and I'd assume still today.

Just because blood is being pumped around the body and it has artifitial lungs does would not keep it alive.

The intention was to revive the head for a few hours, not indefinitely. |

| There was some story about a French scientist during the French revolution who was condemned to be guillotined. He had an assistant, and told him that once his head (the scientist's) was cut off and it fell into a basket, he would try to blink for as long as possible and the assistant should count how many times he blinked. Once the head was cut off, the assistant counted the head to have blinked more than twenty times. |
